UEFA punished Zenith for Ratko Mladic9-12-2017 |
The European Football Association (UEFA) has punished the Russian club Zenit (St. Petersburg) with a fine of 10, 000 euros and partially closing the stadium for the next home game of European club tournaments. The reason is an incident from the group match of the Europa League against Vardar (Skopje), which took place on 23 November. The punishments are for racism and the use of pyrotechnics. The racist banner sector will be closed and a special one with the UEFA logo and the EqualGame logo will be placed in its place. The penalty applies to the Zenit home game of the 1/16-finals of the Europa League. The banner that angered UEFA was marked `Ratko Mladic, the hero of Serbia. `
