Federer and Hingis will be 'a couple' at Rio 20168-12-2015 |
The Swiss tennis players Roger Federer and Martina Hingis will play in tandem in the race of mixed doubles at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next summer, reports the local edition 'Matin'. Both will participate in the singles and doubles (men and women).
The partner of the 34-year-old Federer is still not clear, while Hingis will play in a duet with the 18-year-old Belinda Benic. Switzerland will be represented by another mixed pair - Stan Wawrinka and Timea Bachinski.
Federer's Olympic champion in men's doubles in Beijing 2008 in tandem with Wawrinka and Olympic vice-champion of the single from London 2012.
Over the past season, the 35-year-old Hingis won five major doubles titles, four of them in grand slam tournaments.=
