The newcomer of the World Cup final round Stanislas Wawrinka started well his participation in London after beating Tomas Berdych with 6-3, 6-7 (0), 6-3 in the first game of a single scheme.
The Swiss made the best season of his career and ranked for the first time in the prestigious tournament final, while for Berdych this is the fourth consecutive participation. Wawrinka however went better in the match, and scored his only opportunity to break in the first set to take it with 6-3. The second part was game for game, as neither of them could not make a breakthrough, but Berdych was clear in the tiebreak, taking it to zero to even the score.
Wawrinka however came out highly motivated in the the crucial set and achieve early break and then deduct the lead and reached the final 6-3, 6-7 (0), 6-3 in 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Tomorrow against each other will face two other players in group A - Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, and later today is the first match of Group B between Juan Martin del Potro and Richard Gasquet.
