World No. 2 Novak Djokovic defends his title from in Shanghai Masters after beating Juan Martin del Potro with 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (3) in a very controversial and interesting final.
Both players are in great shape, Del Potro defeated the leader in world rankings with 6-2, 6-4 in yesterday's semi-final. Djokovic, however, began the final lot more confidently and quickly gained a lead of 5-0, and shortly thereafter close the set with 6-1. Del Potro, however, in a great way respond and took the first three games of the second half, then did not drop the lead and tied the game after 6-3 in the second set.
True spectacle for the audience came at the decisive set when both showed the best of the game and each of them seemed close to victory at a time. At 5-4 in his favor the Serb had two match points in service to his rival, but Del Porto could affect them, and then reached the tiebreak. There the experience and confidence of Djokovic had their say, and he came to the ultimate success after a total of 2 hours and 32 minutes. Thus Nole defend his title in Shanghai and won a total of 15 Masters Series trophy and 39th career title.
