Seeded first in the main draw Angelique Kerber won her first singles title of the season after the final of the tournament in Linz beat Ana Ivanovic with 6-4, 7-6 (6).
The Serb, while third placed entered as the favorite in the clash for the title, as had won three of four clash with the future champion. The German tennis player, however, offer a real battle and eventually managed to triumph.
Kerber finished the game with six attack against five for Ivanovic, and the battle lasted just over an hour and a half.
Trophy for the winner was only third in her career, as the previous two wins were from Paris and Copenhagen in 2012. "In the end the things were on the scales," said 25-year-old Kerber. "I am very happy that I won because Anna is an outstanding player. I concentrated on my game, but maybe I should be more relaxed when I had chances to close the game. "
