World number two Rafael Nadal recorded an impressive turnaround to qualify for the semifinals of the China Open.
Nadal maintained the chances to replace Novak Djokovic as the new leader in the rankings after turned Fabio Fognini from lost set and falling behind by 1-4 in the second. The Spaniard was able to take the next five games with which to align the sets. Fognini, who is 19th in the world, took the third set, but Rafa won all of games to the end and greeted with a deserved victory. In the first set the Italian had won with 6-2. Nole can stay on top of the rankings only if he wins the title, and Nadal lost in the semifinals, where he awaits him John Isner and Tomas Berdych. Nadal has not lost on hard court this season.
