Seeded No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska in women qualified for the second round of the U.S. Open after outplaying with 6-1 6-2 Silvia Soler Espinosa.
The match between the two was the first on the court, "Arthur Ashe" and the Pole needed only 63 minutes to record her 28th victory in the first round of the Grand Slam tournaments (with only 2 losses).
US Open is traditionally one of the toughest tournaments for Radwanska, who has never played a quarterfinal in New York. 69th in the world Soler did reach the third round of the U S Open last year.
In another match of the first round Li Na from China defeated in just over an hour Olga Govortsova (Belarus) with 6-2 6-2.
