Tommy Haas continued his incredible performance on Masters Series tournament in Miami and qualified for the semi-finals after defeated Frenchman Gilles Simon with 6:3, 6:1.
The experienced German eliminate world number one Novak Djokovic in the last round and in the quarterfinals had no trouble against Simon. Haas won 78 percent of the points on his own serve and did not gave to his opponent any opportunity for a breakthrough. The 34-year-old player is the first German who reached the semifinals in Miami, and will try to win his first Masters Series title since 2001, when triumph in Stuttgart.
The semifinals Haas will face David Ferrer, who managed to turn Jurgen Melzer in the quarter final from other top half of the scheme. The Austrian took the first part with 6:4, but then the feisty Spaniard has played out the next two sets with 6:3, 6:0 to reach success after an hour and 55 minutes. "I was a little nervous in the first set and the beginning of the second. Tried to fight for every point, to be focused and felt good at the end of the match," Ferrer said after the meeting. The Spaniard has won both his matches against Haas before.
