Seeded fourth in the main draw of the Australian Open David Ferrer continued in the third round of the tournament, after having given a set of "lucky loser" Tim Shmizek from USA.The 30 year old Ferrer beat with 6:0, 7:5, 4:6, 6:3 after his opponent made 77 unforced errors.
125 th-ranked Shmizek fell in Melbourne after losing in qualifying, but got a place in the main draw after denial of his compatriot John Isnar.
Ferrer needed five match-point to close the meeting. Last year he played a quarterfinal, and in 2011 was among the best 4.
