The six-times champion United States defeated South Africa with 2:1 victories in a match of the second round in Group "B" tennis championship in mixed teams 'Hopman Cup' in Perth (Australia).
Venus Williams, who made her debut in the competition at 32 years old, gave an advance of the Americans after the success in female single with 4:6, 6:2, 6:3 over Chanel Sheepers. This was the first match for Williams since mid-October, when she won the title in Luxembourg. Kevin Anderson equalized for South Africa after handle the men's singles with 7:6 (0) 7:6 (5) against John Isnar who is champion from "Hopman Cup" in 2011 with partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
In the deciding doubles match the 2nd-seeded Williams and Isnar beat Anderson and Sheepers with 6:3, 6:2 and started with a victory in the race. For South Africa, however, this is the second defeat after 1:2 against Spain.
