Sports Arbitration Court reduced the sentence of Kutrovski6-10-2012 |
The Supreme Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne partially uphold the appeal of the Bulgarian player Dimitar Kutrovski against his sentence of two years imprisonment from competitions for doping.
CAS reduced the penalty to 15 months and Kutrovski will be back on court after 14 May 2013.
The Bulgarian will have to return and the earned prize money (16,015 dollars) and world ranking points (61) in the tournament in San Jose, where he reached the quarterfinals, as well as the race of the series "Futures" in Brownsville.
The Bulgarian testing positive for the banned substance "methylhexaneamine" during the ATP San Jose with prize fund 531 000 USD in mid-February.
In May tribunal of the International Tennis Federation ITF punished Kutrovski not to participate in contests until February 14, 2014, although Sofia's resident denied intentionally used a banned stimulant.
Kutrovski explained that he purchased and used nitrogen buuster "Jack3d" to improve concentration and stamina, having verified the list of substances containing it that none of the prohibitive list UADA. "Metilheksanaminat" however, is written with a different name on the label - "1.3 dimetilamilamin" which does not appear in the list of UADA, but in fact is the same substance.
