Defending champion Andy Murray (Great Britain) qualified for the quarter-finals of the tennis tournament on hard courts in Tokyo, Japan with a prize of 1.28 million dollars.

1st-seeded Murray, who is an Olympic champion London'2012, defeating Lukas Latsko (Slovakia) with 6:1, 6:2 in 57 minutes.

The Briton recorded six aces and four breaks in a match that because of the rain was played in with the roof closed on Centre Court.

Murray, who is No. 3 in the world rankings, will play in the quarter  by Stanislas Wawrinka (Switzerland).

Seventh-seeded Wawrinka won difficult against Jeremy Chardy (France) to 7:6 (1), 6:7 (6), 7:5 for 2:37 hours.

Chardy saved three match points in the tiebreak of the second set but let break in the 11th game of the third set.

Number 3 in the scheme Janko Tipsarevic (Serbia) qualify for the second round of the tournament after beating Gilles Simon (France), with 4:6, 6:3, 6:1.

For Tipsarevic it was victory number 51 for season.

In the next round the Serb will play with 4th placed Juan Monaco (Argentina), who beat Bulgaria's first racket Grigor Dimitrov with 6:2, 6:1.
