Samantha Stosur (Australia) started with a convincing victory of her title defense from U.S. Open tennis.
Number 7 in the scheme defeated Petra Martic (Croatia) with 6:1, 6:1 in 51 minutes.
Stosur won the first 19 points in the match against the 64th in the world Croat and made 10 aces and five breaks.
