Former world number one Kim Clijsters (Belgium) qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic tennis tournament. The 29 years old Clijsters beat another former No. 1 - Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) with 6:3 6:4 for 58 minutes.
Clijsters made a decisive breakthrough in the fourth game of the first set. In the second part she also made an early breakthrough and maintained her lead until the end.
For Clijsters, who has four Grand Slam titles, it's debut at the Olympics.
The Belgian placed total of 13 winning shots in the quarter and she expects the winner of the match between No. 3 in the scheme Maria Sharapova (Russia) and Sabine Lizitski (Germany).
