The Swiss Roger Federer set a new record and the history of tennis. Eight days after winning a record seventh title from "Wimbledon", he beat his achievement for many weeks at top of world rankings.
Federer, the 287th week in his career, No. 1 in the world. He is currently on holiday in Sardinia with his family.
Current peak achievement was of Pete Sampras - 286 weeks.
Federer, together with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have already secured qualification for the ATP tournament on November 5 in London.
On August 8 Federer turns 31 years. He is the second-oldest player number one in the world after Andre Agassi who does this at 33 and 131 days.
