Nadal with a record 21 title in the tournaments Masters1-07-2012 |
Number 2 in the world Rafael Nadal (Spain) won a record 21 title at the tennis tournament of the series "Masters".
Nadal dethrone last year's champion and leader in the world rankings Novak Djokovic (Serbia) with 7:5 6:3 in the final in Rome. So the Spaniard earned 6th trophy from the race on clay courts in the Italian capital.
Nadal inflicted the first blow of the match with a break in the fifth game, but allow to his opponent to equalize immediately.
In 5:4 for Djokovic and Nadal's service the Serb lead with 30:15 and made the winning shot that should have brought him two set balls. However, the judge on the line wrongly ruled out. The chief referee of the match immediately annul the decision, but the point should be replayed.
The angry Djokovic lost concentration and this proved decisive. Nadal came into series and with five consecutive games took the first set and led with 2:0 in the second.
The Spaniard continued to control the match in the ninth game and gave the Serb victory of his opponent with a double mistake after 2:20 hours game. This was total of 41 unforced mistake for Djokovic against Nadal's only 21.
