Murray moves on in Barcelona1-07-2012 |
Andy Murray qualified for the third round of the tennis tournament in Barcelona after winning easily with 6:3, 6:2 Ukrainian player Sergei Stakovski.
The match, which lasted just 78 minutes, marked the returning of the British in the Catalan capital, where he wasn't played in the last four years.
Winning is only the second for Murray in this tournament. In the next round he will face the winner of the match between Robin Haase (Netherlands) and Santiago Giraldo (Colombia).
2010 champion Fernando Verdasco eliminate the Belgian Steve Darcy after smooth victory with 6:3, 6:1. The Spaniard won the trophy 24 months ago because of the absence of his compatriot Rafael Nadal, who was missing due to injuries in the knees. A year ago, Verdasco, seeded ninth, did not participate in the prestigious tournament in Catalonia.
