Federer will defend his title against the Japanese in Basel5-11-2011 |
Swiss Roger Federer will meet Japanese Kei Nishikori in the final of tennis tournament in Basel. Former No. 1 Federer won his sanadornik and friend Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 and will fight for fifth title of the tournament in his hometown. Earlier today the leader in the scheme Novak Djokovic surprisingly eliminated in the semi-finals after defeat by participating in "wild card" Japanese Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-7 (4:7), 0:6. Djokovic started strong and won the first set easily 6-2. The turning point in the match came in the second set tiebreak, which the Japanese won with 7:4. In the decisive third set Djokovic was unrecognizable and could not even win the game. This is only the fourth loss of Djokovic this year, two of them are then denied because of injuries. Losing Djokovic will probably facilitate the task of Federer defended his title on home tournament in Basel. Federer won the first set hard against Wawrinka after the tiebreak 7-5 but the second was far more convincing - 6-2. "It is always difficult to play against Stan. We both know too well to be surprised by something," said Federer.
