In 2012 Sofia will host the World Championship Tennis Davis Cup. Meetings of the Group 3 area of Europe will be held in late April and will oppose the national teams of Bulgaria and 12 countries. In Sofia, the teams will arrive in Lithuania, Greece, Norway, Macedonia, Montenegro, Armenia, Iceland, Andorra, Georgia, San Marino, Malta, Albania. According to the rules the first two teams in the final standings will climb in group 2. Household for the Davis Cup will be the first of many significant events in the country next year. Sofia will host a tournament of champions of the WTA, the country in July will be held the European Championship for veterans with the participation of 500 athletes and first-class tournament for boys and girls up to 16 years. Davis Cup will be the first major event in the Bulgarian National Tennis Center after its renovation in the winter.
