Switzerland's Roger Federer overcame the memories of the lost final of U.S. Open Championship in 2009 and a year and easily beat Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. World number 3 won with 6-3, 7-5 in his first game of the men's circuit tennis tournament in Cincinnati.
Federer leaves no chance for Del Potro in the first set, but in the second Argentine show more class. He saved for six rallies to break Federer, but failed to do the same with a strong blow to the Swiss lost in his submission in the 11th game. So Federer reached 6-5 and won their submission, which is the second round meeting with American James Blake.
"I expected a hard game, but developed better than I thought. I played a great first set, but the second was very good. That was enough to win tonight. At this slow court is difficult to find the right rhythm game, but I served well and did the right thing, "said Federer.
