Former world's № 1 Lleyton Hewitt was forced to withdraw from participation in the Open de France, organizers said the tournament from the Grand Slam.
30-year-old Australian had to play in the first round by Spaniard Albert Montanes and has been replaced by "lucky loser" Marc Gicquel of France.
Hewitt, champion twice in tournaments in the Grand Slam, now 64 and in the world after undergoing leg surgery in March.
Roland Garros starts today and ends June 5.
