Number 1 in the world Rafael Nadal of Spain defeated his compatriot Feliciano Lopez with 6:4, 6:2 and qualified for the fourth round of the tennis tournament on clay courts of the series "Masters" in the Italian capital Rome with 2.75 million prize pool dollars.
Nadal started strongly first set but then made a mistake which allowed Lopez to reduce the gap to 3:4. However, Feliciano Lopez, No. 40 in world rankings, was not sufficiently concentrated at the end of the part, assuming three consecutive errors that allowed Rafael Nadal to win 6:4. In the middle of the second set world No 1 Nadal wins again submitting Lopez provides you with easy win 2:0 after 6:2 in the second part.
Nadal will retain its position in global rankings if it wins in the fourth round against the winner of match between Mardy Fish (USA) Marin Cilic (Harvitiya). Given that Rafael Nadal lost his next match in the Italian capital, Novak Djokovic will be able to take a leadership position in the world rankings.
