The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov remove the fourth-seeded Marcos Baghdatis (Cyprus) and qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament on clay courts in the German city of Munich with a prize fund € 450,000. 19-year-old Dimitrov beat Baghdatis (Cyprus) with 3:6, 7:6 (8:6), 6:2.
To rank the quarterfinals Grigor Dimitrov secured € 11 190 and 45 points for world rankings.
The next opponent of the Bulgarians will be determined by meeting Florian Mayer (Germany) - Teyrumas Gabashvili (Russia).
Marcos Baghdatis match started strongly by making a breakthrough in the fourth game, led by 3:1 and won the first set for 37 minutes. In the second part two take their input to 6:6, and in the tiebreaker Dimitrov won with 8:6.
Dimitrov made his first break of the match in the third set of the third set, which gave momentum to the end and he convincingly beat his opponent. Grigor won the next three games and lead with 5:1 games.
Cypriot took his serve and reduced to 2:5, but in its submission Bulgarians was peremptory and closed the match with 6:2.
Later today Dimitrov and his German partner Philip Pechner will face in the first round of doubles against third seeded Robin Haaz (Netherlands) and Kubota Lukasz (Poland).
