World No. 1 Rafael Nadal (Spain) qualified for the quarterfinals of the tennis tournament in the Spanish city of Barcelona with a prize fund € 1,995,000.
Nadal, who won five titles in Barcelona between 2005-2009 year, wins in the third round Santiago Hiraldo (Colombia) 6:3, 6:1 for 83 minutes.
The Spaniard made three breaks in the first set that lasted 45 minutes, the second took even easier after two breaks.
The quarterfinals rival Nadal will be Gael Monfils (France), who beat compatriot Richard Gasquet with 6:4, 7:6 (7).
No. 4-seeded David Ferrer (Spain) also qualified for the quarterfinals.
Ferrer, a finalist here in 2008 and 2009, beat Victor Hanesku (Romania) 6:3, 6:2, and the next phase will play No. 6 Jurgen Melzer (Austria), eliminated Albert Montanes (Spain), 6: 7 (2:7), 6, 3, 6:2 to 2:03.
