Victoria Azarenka of Belarus won 6-1, 6-4 Russian Maria Sharapova to win the prestigious tournament on hard courts in Miami for the second time in his career.
21-year-old makes the most of the mistakes of Sharapova. Former world number one record to 43 unforced errors. After two breaks in the first two passes, Azarenka took the next nine games to establish control over the match. Trailing by 1-6, 0-4, Sharapova was able to reduce the difference in the second set to only 3-4. Then again let Russian breakthrough, only to return it in the next game. In serving their stay in the match again, Sharapova was not level and eventually lost.
So again Azarenka won the title here in 2009. Success in Miami is the biggest in the career of the young tennis player. It will likely come up as number six in the new world record for her classification. Sharapova will be back in the top 10 after nearly two years absence.
