Former world No 1 Maria Sharapova wins the final for the first time after more than seven months after victory in the semifinals of the tournament in Miami over Andrea Petkovic (Germany).
Sharapova lost the first set 3:6, but then totally dominated and won with ease the next two sets with 6:0, 6:2. The Russian has not won a WTA tournament in May last year when they triumphed in Strasbourg.
"I feel that find their form. Hope I have bruises because I feel much better conditioning and consequently improves my game, "said Maria Sharapova.
The Russian will face Victoria Azarenka in the final, which convincingly beat third-seeded Vera Zvonareva of 6:0, 6:3.
Azarenka reached again until finals in Miami, after his sensational victory in the finals here over Serena Williams two years ago.
"I know how play Sharapova, she also knows my game. You'll get a real battle, but I will not let her dictate the game as she shall be sought, "said Azarenka.
