Rafael Nadal refused participation in the U.S. Open tennis due to injury, organizers announced of the Grand Slam tournaments.
"I regret that I must announce that I am not yet ready to play and will not participate to U S Open. I've always met great support from the audience in New York, but I must continue with my recovery," said Nadal.
The Spaniard, world number 3 in men has not played since dropped in the second round of "Wimbledon". Nadal missed the Olympics in London because of chronic knee pain, then do not participate and on the strongest tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati. U.S. Open begins on August 27 in New York. The Spaniard won the title of U S Open in 2009 and last year lost in the finals from Novak Djokovic.
