Former number 5 in the world rankings on tennis Juveny Bouchard (Canada) recorded the first season victory.
Bouchard won 6:2, 6:0 over the 17-year-old Australian Desstina Aja at the Quyong Classic tournament in Melbourne and broke his series of four consecutive losses since the beginning of the calendar year. The 2014 Wimbledon finalist slumped to 83rd in the WTA ranking after a weak 2017 season, dropping into the first round of 14 tournaments.
