Angelique Kerber entered history as the new No. 1. This was after the German woman qualified for the final of the US Open, and the current good leader Serena Williams dropped out in the semifinals.
So Kerber on Monday will become the first German who is No. 1 after Steffi Graf, who according to Kerber would be proud of her.
'That is just amazing. A great day. To be here for the first time in the final and to be nN. 1 in the world sounds great. To be the first German after Steffi is fantastic. I think she's proud of me.', said Kerber after her big success over Caroline Wozniacki.
