The Italian Roberta Vinci qualified for the quarterfinals of the US Open, after recording a convincing win against her compatriot Camila Giorgi with 6-4, 6-2.
21-year-old Giorgi was a pleasant surprised in the tournament in the first week after overcoming the qualifications to enter the main draw and then recorded three straight wins, including over the sixth placed Caroline Wozniacki in the third round.
