Rocket No. 1 of Russia in women Maria Sharapova announced that the legendary tennis player Jimmy Connors is her new coach. The American is a former No. 1 in the world raglist and winner of eight Grand Slam titles.
"I'm happy to announce that Jimmy Connors will be my new coach. I've known him for many years and briefly worked together in 2008 before Austrelian Open, "said the world number 2 on his personal website.
"I was really excited about our partnership and look forward to upcoming tournaments," she added.
With her former mentor Thomas Hogsted Sharapova worked since 2010 to date and under his leadership the 26 year-old made a career Grand Slam (the title of the "Roland Garros" from last year).
The last time 60-year-old Connors train with his compatriot Andy Roddick, but the 19-month collaboration ended in March 2008.
