Fourth-seeded David Ferrer started with a victory his participation in the final ATP tournament of the year in London.
The Spaniard strengthen his excellent form at the end of the season, defeated the Argentinean Juan Martin del Potro with 6:3, 3:6, 6:4.
Ferrer, who just three days ago won his first title in the series "Masters" in Paris triumphing, record 73-victory for the year in front of 17,000 spectators in the crowded O2 Arena in London.
Ferrer and Del Potro exchanged one set and in the decisive part Ferrer led with 4:1 games before Del Potro to equalize for 4:4. The Spaniard did not panic and managed to close the decisive set with 6:4 and won the match after two hours and 16 minutes play.
"I'm very happy. It became match on a top level against a tough opponent, Juan Martin. I do not know what is the secret of my good form, but this is the best season of my career," said Ferrer, who in his next match will face Roger Federer.
