World No. 2 Maria Sharapova (Russia) and the Olympic champion Serena Williams (USA) qualified for the final of the WTA Championship in Istanbul (Turkey).
The match between Sharapova and Williams will be a repetition of the title dispute in 2004, when the Russian won her only title.
The semifinals second-seeded Russian side the leader in the world ranking Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) with 6:4, 6:2 for 96 minutes.
Sharapova led with 4:0 in the second set and until end of the match had no problems. She recorded seven aces and four breaks.
In Russian this is fifth win in 12 matches against Azarenka and third final of her career WTA Championship. Despite the loss Azarenka will finish the year as No. 1 in the world rankings.
