Six-times champion Roger Federer (Switzerland) qualified for the quarterfinals of the British Open tennis.

Third-seeded Federer deal with Xavier Malis (Belgium) with 7:6 (1), 6:1, 4:6, 6:3 after 2:11 minutes playing time.

Thus he reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for record 33, consecutive time. The last time Federer dropped out before that phase of the "Roland Garros" in 2004.

30-year-old Swiss had a problem because of back pain and requested a medical timeout with 4:3 in the first set. After

returning from the locker room Federer felt visible difficulties with movement on the court and allowed a break for 5:6.

Malis however, failed to grasp the situation and losses the submission for 6:6, then Federer closed the first set with 7:1 points after six consecutive rallies in the tiebreak.

There was a pause of more than 30 minutes because of rain, allowing the Swiss to get extra help from his physiotherapist.

Federer came back transformed on the court and give only game of his opponent in the second set.

At the beginning of the third part Malis realize breakthrough and broke series of the Swiss in five consecutive games. By the end of the set the Belgian preserve his lead and reduce the gap in the result.

The fourth part again Malis breake early and led with 2:0, but there were last five consecutive games for Federer, with which he disguised himself the overall winner.

Federer ended the meeting with nine aces and 45 winners.

Six-times champion, seeking a record 17th Grand Slam title, awaits the winner of the match between Denis Istomin (Uzbekistan) and Mikhail Youzhny (Russia).
