The representative of the host Tommy Haas won for the second time the tennis tournament on grass in the German city of Halle with a prize fund € 750,000.
Involved with "wild card" Haas beat in the final seeded 2 Roger Federer (Switzerland) with 7:6 (5), 6:4 for 95 minutes.
The 34 year old Haas, who is 87th in the world right now, earn 13th career title and first since 2009 when triumph for the last precisely in Halle.
The match started well for the five-time champion Federer, who played for the seventh time in the final race. After an early break Federer led with 3:1. Haas, however, quickly equalized for 3:3, then came to the tiebreak. In it the representative of the hosts led with 4:2 points and allowed twist.
The second set went equally, but in the ninth game the German realized only one breakthrough, after which closed the match with his own submission.
