Rocket number one of Bulgaria Tsvetana Pironkova started the tournament with a victory on clay in Palermo, after winning 6-2, 7-5 Anna Tatishvili.
Tsveti showed very good form, having defeated their opponents for 90 minutes in the tournament with a prize of 220,000 dollars.
In the next round Pironkova will face the winner of the match between Andrea and Sorana Hlavachkova baptized, which will be played tomorrow.
