Seeded three-seeded Andy Roddick qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament on grass at Queen's London with a prize fund 1.15 million dollars.
American, four-time champion of the tournament, beat Kevin Anderson of South Africa, 6:4, 6:4 for 78 minutes of play. One break in both sets were enough of Roddick to ensure victory against the South African 203 cm.
Fernando Verdasco of Spain, No. 7-seeded, also ranked among the best eight of the tournament after beating David Nalbandian (Argentina) with 7:5, 6:1.
